HERO Financing Makes Sense

In July 2014, the Home Energy Renovation Opportunity, or HERO, began its partnership with the city of San Diego in order to create energy solutions for homeowners as part of the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program. San Diego joins more than 300 hundred California communities that have adopted the Program to encourage sustainability, to create jobs locally, and to stimulate the economy.

Douglas Macmillan of California Showcase Construction explains that “the reason why HERO works is because it puts people to work. Because of HERO we’ve been able to hire many employees.” The Program has been able to impact hundreds of households in San Diego and has inspired abundant job growth. Specifically, HERO has created more than 4,300 jobs, funded more than 26,500 residential projects, and provided more than $514 million in financing to homeowners across California.

Other green sector jobs will actually be created,” says councilmember, Todd Gloria. He worked to bring HERO to San Diego. “It’s a no-brainer,” Gloria adds, it’s protecting our environment, growing our economy and creating jobs.” Watch and listen to what he says about the HERO Program. You can easily apply online or over the phone for energy efficiency financing through the HERO Program. There is no application fee and the process takes less than two minutes. This is a win-win for local residents, the economy, and the environment.
